더비는 영국의 중심부에 위치하고 있으며, 런던과 영국 북부간 교통의 요충지이다. 1850년 부터 시작된 오랜 역사를 자랑하는 더비대학교(the University of Derby) 는 세계 각국의 많은 학생들의 교육의 장이다. 더비대학은 더비셔(Derbushire) 에 위치하며 3개의 캠퍼스로 구성 되어있다. 두 캠퍼스는 더비(Derby)에 있으며 한 캠퍼스는 벅스턴(Buxton)에 위치하고 있다.
