옥스퍼드 브룩스의 대학 (영국내의 전체 대학순위에서 48위 : 2012년도 타임즈 랭킹) 에서 2012년 과정에 대해서 알려드리고자 합니다. 간혹 옥스퍼드 대학과 무슨 관계이냐고 문의하시는 분들이 계시는데요, 옥스퍼드 대학과는 관계가 없는 대학이지만, 옥스퍼드 근교에 대학 캠퍼스가 위치하고 있습니다.

1865년도에 Oxford School of Art 로 시작되어 오늘날의 대학으로써 형성되었습니다. 1992년도는 Oxford Polytechinec 에서 Oxford Brookes 이라는 명칭의 대학으로 이름을 변경하고 본격적으로 대학으로써 신생대학의 대표 주자 중 한 학교인 이곳은 교육, 정치, 사회학, 역사 분야로 유명합니다.

그 중에 School of Education 을 살펴보면, 외국인 학생들에게는 Communicatin Media and Culture, Englisht Language and communication, Philosophy, Religion and Theology, Sport, Coaching, and Physical Education,  Education, TESOL 전공이 단연코 인기가 있었습니다. 

학교에서 개설된 학과들을 살펴보면, Departement of Real Estate and construction 이라는 과가 있는데, 눈에 띄는 군요. 다른 영국대학에 볼수 없었던 과정이기 때문에 그만큼 선도하는 분야라고 보여집니다.

파운데이션 과정도 개설되어있는데 학부과정에서 아래의 전공에 지원하고자 하는 학생들에게 추천을 드리고 싶네요 ^^

Foundation courses

The Built Environment Foundation courses provide the basis for deciding what to study at degree level and the chance to make choices about your future professional education and career.

Built Environment Foundation course - FBE

This foundation course qualifies you to go on to a validated BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) degree course, and beyond that, to study for a master's degree or even a PhD. The course is designed to develop your understanding and problem-solving skills in areas which are fundamental to the environment, design and development of cities. You will be introduced to a variety of subjects that, with the correct choice of modules, will contribute to your progress to one of the degree courses offered within the School of the Built Environment.

Foundation Degree in Construction Management - FdSc CM

The Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Construction Management has been specifically designed for students who are already working in their desired fields and, with the approval and support of their employers, are developing skills and knowledge required to be dynamic and effective managers. The degree is a vocational qualification that is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required by employers, thus helping to reduce regional and/or sector skills shortages. A foundation degree is the first stage in Higher Education and provides a route to a further degree and professional advancement. It involves close cooperation with employers in the construction industry, relying on work-based training, distance learning and intensive residential sessions in Oxford.

Undergraduate courses

The Department offers full-time and part-time programmes of study in the key subject areas of property management, property investment and property and land appraisal, acquisition and development. Our courses include relevant aspects of valuation, economics, law, finance and investment, building design, construction and maintenance, planning, business and information technology.

Construction Project Management BSc (hons)

The BSc (Hons) in Construction Management is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and therefore provides a professionally recognised qualification for graduates wishing to gain membership of the Institute. Graduates are eligible to join the Association of Building Engineers, leading to registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) and to use the designation Ingenieur Professionel Europeen (IngPEur).

Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management BSc (Hons)

The course encourages your intellectual and personal development by providing you with a body of knowledge and industrial experience that will prepare you for a professional career in the construction industry. Through the industrial placements programme the course has strong links with a variety of construction-based companies. Coupled with the breadth of knowledge gained on the course, this provides graduates with diverse options for their career path including: construction management, project management, quantity surveying and commercial management.

Real Estate Management BSc (hons)

Graduates of the course meet the academic requirements for membership of the RICS. They must then complete two years of recognised, relevant experience and pass an Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), before becoming eligible for consideration for corporate membership of the RICS.

International Real Estate MSc / PGDip / PGCert

Accredited by Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) this course equips graduates with the skills and expertise to take advantage of career opportunities in overseas property markets.

Real Estate Management MSc / PGDip / PGCert

The course will prepare you for the challenges of entering professional practice and completing the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) to become a chartered surveyor.

Project Management in the Built Environment MSc

Oxford Brookes University offers an RICS & CIOB accredited MSc in Project Management in the Built Environment (MSc PMBE).
