2007년 US.

[Full time MBA 프로그램 Format]

The Daytime MBA program follows a traditional full-time MBA format, with the exception that our terms are only 6 weeks long. This allows you to explore more subjects and broaden your academic experience during the first year to better prepare you for a summer internship. Then, during your second year, all your classes are electives enabling you to specialize in a concentration or certificate to gain greater expertise in a particular area.

No classes are scheduled on Wednesdays so that you may have a full day every week to concentrate on other school activities including club-sponsored conferences, special speakers, and career services events. Many on-campus recruiting events, including interviews, occur on Wednesdays.

Program Length: 22 months

Academic Terms: 5 terms in the first year, and 4 terms in the second year that are each 6 weeks long

First Year: 10 core courses and 5 or more electives

Second Year: All elective courses

  • Online Application

The online application includes sections on personal information and program information. The program information section includes questions regarding joint degree programs and our concentrations and certificates. In addition to these sections, the application asks for educational background, transcripts, employment history, a business resume, activities and achievements, self-reported test scores, and essays.

    • The Daytime MBA application and recommendations can only be submitted online.
    • You will need to create a user ID and password to access the system.
    • Detailed instructions are available in the online system.
    • You may access the application as many times as you like before submitting it.
    • Your application will not be evaluated until you submit it and all supporting materials are received and verified.
  • Transcripts

    • Legible, scanned copies of all official transcripts are required for each college or university you have attended.
    • Official transcripts must include the university's seal and cannot be copied from an online grading system.
    • Each course taken and the grade received must be listed on the transcripts.
    • The degree received and date conferred must be clearly visible on your transcripts.
    • If your transcripts do not state the degree and date conferred, upload a copy of your diploma in addition to the transcript.
    • If your transcript is not in English, you must make arrangements to have it translated, attested, and uploaded in addition to the originals.
    • To request a transcript, use the "Transcript Request Form" in the "downloadable forms" section in the online application. This form may be sent to the registrar of each college or university you've attended. This form is not part of the official application; it's provided to assist you in obtaining required information for your application.
    • Unacceptable transcripts include self-reported transcripts and scanned copies of unofficial transcripts.
    • Failure to submit official transcripts on time, or any misrepresentation, falsification, or omission of information, is grounds for automatic revocation of any offer of admission and financial assistance.

When to Submit Hard Copies of Official Transcripts
If you are accepted into the Daytime MBA program, you must then submit hard copies of official transcript(s) and translations in a sealed envelope from each college or university you attended. These hard copies must be submitted in conjunction with your tuition deposit at the designated deadline for your application round.

  • Essays

    • Three short answer questions and two essays are required for all applicants.
    • Responses should use 1.5 line spacing and a font size no smaller than 10-point.
    • Responses must be completed before submitting your application.
    • Prepare your responses carefully. The Admissions Committee considers your answers important in the selection process.

Application Tip: Check out this blog post from the Director of Admissions for more insight on the 2012 - 2013 essays.

Required Short Answer Questions: Answer all 3 questions
For each short answer question, respond in 250 characters only (the equivalent of about 50 words).

    1. What are your short-term goals, post-MBA?

    2. What are your long-term goals?

    3. Life is full of uncertainties, and plans and circumstances can change. As a result, navigating a career requires you to be adaptable. Should the short-term goals that you provided above not materialize what alternative directions have you considered?

Required Essays: Answer both essay questions

    1. The "Team Fuqua" spirit and community is one of the things that sets The Duke MBA experience apart, and it is a concept that extends beyond the student body to include faculty, staff, and administration. When a new person joins the Admissions team, we ask that person to share with everyone in the office a list of "25 Random Things About Yourself." As an Admissions team, we already know the new hire's professional and academic background, so learning these "25 Random Things" helps us get to know someone's personality, background, special talents, and more.

In this spirit, the Admissions Committee also wants to get to know you—beyond the professional and academic achievements listed in your resume and transcript. You can share with us important life experiences, your likes/dislikes, hobbies, achievements, fun facts, or anything that helps us understand what makes you who you are. Share with us your list of "25 Random Things" about YOU.

Please present your response in list form, numbered 1 to 25. Some points may be only a few words, while others may be longer. Your complete list should not exceed 2 pages.

    2. When asked by your family, friends, and colleagues why you want to go to Duke, what do you tell them? Share the reasons that are most meaningful to you.

Your response to this essay question should be no more than 2 pages in length. Please respond fully and concisely using 1.5 line spacing.

    Optional Essay
If you feel there are extenuating circumstances of which the Admissions Committee should be aware, please explain them in an optional essay (e.g. unexplained gaps in work, choice of recommenders, inconsistent or questionable academic performance, or any significant weakness in your application).

    • Do NOT upload additional essays nor additional recommendations in this area of the application.
    • The Optional Essay is intended to provide the Admissions Committee with insight into your extenuating circumstances only.
    • Limit your response to two pages.
  • Resume

    • A 1-page business resume is required for all applicants.
    • Submit your resume electronically, within the online application system.
    • Include employment information for volunteer work, internships, and full- or part-time work experience. For each, include the location, title, date, and responsibilities, starting with your most recent position.
    • The education section should include dates of attendance and degrees received.
  • Letters of Recommendation

    • Two letters of recommendation are required to complete your application. (Re-applicants must submit only one recommendation.)
    • Your recommenders must complete the current recommendation forms associated with the online application—no other format of recommendation will be accepted.
    • Submissions by email or mail are NOT accepted.
    • One recommendation should reflect your performance in your most recent professional setting. Volunteer activities or other service-oriented roles in which you are deeply involved may also be excellent sources for recommendations.
    • The most valuable recommendations come from people who know your professional skills and abilities.
    • Recommendations from relatives and friends are strongly discouraged.
    • Academic recommendations in most cases provide a similar perspective to what is in your transcript, and are less helpful.
    • Use your recommenders' work email addresses versus personal accounts, like Gmail or Yahoo, which will be more closely monitored in our credential verification process.

    Peer/Alumni Recommendations
In addition to the two required recommendations, you may receive an extra recommendation from a peer or alumnus/alumna. There are separate forms for these recommendations and if submitted on your behalf before you submit your application, you will be eligible for an application fee reduction. Please allow at least three days for processing.

    Online Recommendation Forms
You are required to utilize the Recommendation Forms that are within the online application. The following questions are included on the recommendation form:

    • Please describe the peer group to which you are comparing the applicant.
    • Comment on the applicant's interpersonal skills (effectiveness in establishing and maintaining relationships; working with peers, supervisors, and subordinates; willingness to work in a team environment).
    • What do you consider the applicant's three primary talents or strengths? Please provide examples, if relevant.
    • In what areas does the applicant need improvement or growth? If you have had the opportunity to provide the applicant with constructive feedback, please provide specific examples of the feedback and the applicant's response to it.
  • GMAT or GRE

    • You must take either the GMAT or GRE (the GMAT is preferred) and have your scores sent directly from the testing service to the admissions office.
    • We will accept scores up to 5 years old.
    • There is no minimum test score requirement.
    • If you are not satisfied with your score, you may retake the exam before submitting your application. If you take the exam multiple times, only report your highest score and any sub-scores from the same testing date.
    • You must request that your official score be sent to Fuqua prior to your application round deadline.

    Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)

    Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

  • Application Fee

    • A $225 USD nonrefundable application fee, payable by VISA or MasterCard, is due when you submit your online application.
    • See if you qualify for an application fee reduction or waiver.
  • English Language Proficiency Tests

All international applicants who did not earn an undergraduate degree from a school whose primary language of instruction is English, must submit a valid Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Pearson Test of English (PTE), or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score.

    • All test scores are valid for two years.
    • The test must be taken and official scores received in our office prior to your application round deadline.
    • Allow at least 4 weeks for test scores to be delivered to Fuqua.

Waiver: This requirement is waived for international applicants holding non-technical master's degrees or a non-technical PhD from colleges or universities where English was the language of instruction for the entire course of study. This information should be indicated in the appropriate fields within the "Education" section of your application. You may indicate the primary language of instruction as English by checking the appropriate box listed under each school you enter. If you have questions regarding the waiver of this requirement, you may contact us directly at application-processing@fuqua.duke.edu.

    Score Reporting:

    • Official test score reports must be sent electronically to the Office of Admissions directly from testing service.
    • Personal copies or attested/notarized copies of score reports are not accepted.

    TOEFL Scores
Reports must be sent from Educational Testing Service (ETS). Use The Duke MBA—Daytime program code 5156 on your TOEFL exam. For information on how to register or request test scores, visit the TOEFL website.

    PTE Scores
Official PTE score reports must be sent directly from Pearson Vue. For information on how to register for the PTE or to request test scores, visit the Pearson website.

    IELTS Scores
We accept the academic modules of the IELTS. Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. The IELTS is administered by Cambridge ESOL, British Council, and IDP: IELTS Australia. More information about the test is available on the IELTS website.

[ Process]

Step-by-Step

From learning about the Daytime MBA program and determining "fit" to joining the incoming class at orientation, here are tips about how to approach each step.

1. Do your research

Talk to family, friends, and mentors; attend an information session, campus visit, or other recruiting event; and decide whether the program is right for you. Then, review the application and deadlines. Think through all aspects of the timeline (including interview dates, decision release dates, tuition deposit dates, etc.) before you develop a plan for completing your application in the application round that works best for you.

2. Apply

Access and complete the online application, which can be done over multiple sittings. Go to Application Instructions for details about the application components.

3. Interview

Two interview options are available: Open Interviews and Interviews by Invitation. Visit the Interviews page for more details including registration information. Depending on when you apply and interview, you may also want to schedule your campus visit activities during this time.

4. Receive your decision

Review the decision timeline and deposit deadline for your application round. You will be notified via email and postal mail of your admission decision. If you are accepted to the program, you are required to submit your nonrefundable tuition deposit (must be paid by check or money order; credit card payments cannot be accepted) and hard copies of your official transcripts by the deposit deadline to reserve your place in the class.

5. Visit Fuqua
The best way to learn about Fuqua and The Duke MBA—Daytime program is by experiencing it firsthand. We encourage you to take part in our campus visit program and Blue Devil Weekend (for admitted students). Visiting campus will not only provide insight to inform your final decision to join the program, but will also provide you with information on transitioning to the Durham area.

6. Access the Incoming Student Website (ISW)
Shortly after admission, admitted students receive access to the ISW. It is THE main source of information for admitted students, and is particularly helpful if you are still undecided about joining Team Fuqua. Visit the ISW to better understand our community and our expectations, and to get a better idea of what it would be like to be a Daytime student. The ISW provides information on next steps in the admissions process and includes all the information you need to transition into your new academic life at Fuqua. You will get program announcements, technical and computer information, assignments to prepare academically, and relocation information. This is your main resource to facilitate your transition to Fuqua, and it is important that you visit the site often for updates and guidance.

7. Apply for your Visa (for international students only)
If applicable, visa application information will be included in your admission packet, along with specific deadlines for submission. Visa processing can take up to several months to complete, so it is critical to apply in Early Action, Round 1 or Round 2 if you require a visa to ensure that you are able to join the program
